This painting depicts the slate quarry of Blaenau Ffestiniog in North Wales and was commissioned by Amgueddfa Cymru to hang in the restaurant at National Museum Cardiff. For a long time it was possible to have a cup of tea while viewing this close up, enjoying the marks, thickly applied paint and energy captured within this large scale painting. It has now been moved to the meeting room at the museum and sadly is no longer available for the general public to view on a day to day basis. It is being showcased on @celfarycyd at the moment. If you would like the opportunity for the public to view this once again please head on over to show your appreciation.
